They are substances that prevent or repair damage to cells caused by exposure to oxidizing agents such as environmental pollutants in smoke, ozone and oxygen and even during cell division.
Antioxidants are found in fruits and vegetables and even whole grains. Remember this: the brighter, richer the color and the stronger the smell, that’s where antioxidants are found!!! Some examples are blueberries, onions, watermelon and cranberries.
We can easily buy these affordable antioxidants by taking a trip to the nearest grocery store in the produce section.
Here are some tips:
- Color and odor, the brighter & the stronger the odor the better
- Buy precut fruit and vegetables for fast cooking and eating.

Pitting cherries
Want to keep your cherries uniform in shape for recipes and or for presentation?
Here’s a useful tip!
- Push one cherry at a time firmly down onto the pointed jagged end of a pastry bag tip. But be careful.
- And if you don’t have a pointed jagged end of a pasty bag tip, use a drinking straw instead!!
